Aspendos Festival | Spartacus Ballet

As part of the Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival, we will watch Aram Khachaturian’s world-famous ballet Spartacus.

This spectacular production will be performed by the Abay Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre in the unique atmosphere of the Aspendos Ancient Theatre.

Spartacus tells the story of the gladiator who led a rebellion against the Roman Empire in pursuit of freedom.

Refusing to accept slavery, Spartacus gathers the other gladiators around him and begins a major uprising against the Roman army. The story brings together the love between Spartacus and his wife Phrygia, the power of the Roman commander Crassus and the intrigues of Aegina.

Exploring themes of freedom, love, courage, power and betrayal, the production offers an epic ballet experience through Aram Khachaturian’s powerful music, impressive choreography, large-scale dance scenes, costumes and stage design.
