Aspendos Festival | Carmina Burana

As part of the Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival, we will experience Carl Orff’s world-famous masterpiece, Carmina Burana.

Performed by the Antalya State Opera and Ballet, this spectacular production brings together an orchestra, soloists, adult and children’s choirs, ballet and modern dance artists on the stage of the Aspendos Ancient Theatre.

Composed by German composer Carl Orff, Carmina Burana was inspired by medieval poems and songs dating from the 11th to the 13th centuries.

Through powerful rhythms, impressive choral sections and dance, the work explores the changing nature of fate, love, nature, the arrival of spring, the transience of life and human desire.

Carmina Burana begins and ends with “O Fortuna”, one of the most recognisable pieces in classical music. Featuring a cast of approximately 250 artists, it promises a spectacular stage experience.
