Cevizli Village: A Gift from Atatürk
Located in Antalya’s Akseki district, Cevizli Village boasts 900 years of history and carries both architectural beauty and historical significance.
In 1933, after a devastating fire during the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk personally drew up the village’s reconstruction plan and donated 1000 lira from his own funds to support its rebuilding.
The houses, built according to his plan with wooden beams, bay windows, and the unique “düğmeli” (pegged stone) walls, still preserve the spirit of that era.
Kagrai Ancient City: The Silent Heritage of Cevizli
Nestled within the village, this small but fascinating archaeological site reveals traces of Roman and Byzantine periods. Surface ruins include stone-paved roads, cisterns, and building foundations. Tombs carved into the rocky ground and scattered examples of stone craftsmanship hint at the area’s former importance.
